There are tons of tasty treats that you can serve during your movie night, and do you want to know the best part? Fizzy flipflop cans pair flippin’ perfectly with every single one of the options below!

  • Popcorn Bar

Literally everyone likes their popcorn a specific way. It’s like how we all eat chocolate sandwich cookies differently. Think about it…You hit the movies and there are butter, salt, and seasoning options available to you. The majority of arguments you hear in a concession stand line are about how people want their popcorn to taste. If you’re throwing your own movie screening, you should absolutely capitalize on a popcorn bar to avoid the pre-movie bickering. From warm melted butter and salt to chocolate covered nuts and gummies, there are so many delicious toppings that you can offer at your popcorn bar. Here are ten of our favorite popcorn toppings:

  1. Melted butter (obviously…)

  2. Fresh shaved parmesan or cheddar cheese

  3. Chocolate covered peanuts

  4. Gummy candies

  5. Salt and pepper

  6. Cinnamon and sugar

  7. Taco seasoning

  8. Crushed chocolate sandwich cookies

  9. Chocolate, white chocolate, and dark chocolate chips

  10. Peanut butter cups

  • Nacho Bags

YUMMY, YUMMY, YUMMY! These trash reducing bags of deliciousness are a great way to keep your guests fed. Buy a bunch of personal sized tortilla chip bags and nacho toppings, and let your guests top the chips while keeping it all in the chip bag! A few nacho bag topping ideas below:

  1. Personal sized tortilla chip bags

  2. Shredded cheese

  3. Cooked taco meat(s)

  4. Avocado or guacamole

  5. Salsa

  6. Beans

  7. Lettuce

  8. Sour cream

Backyard Movie Night Set Up

The setup for an epic backyard movie night

  • Projection is perfection

It is an absolute waste of time to drag your TV outside for a movie night. Why? Someone’s limb will 100% always be in the way of someone’s view, you will be uncomfortably close to that one guy who either needed to shower or brush his teeth before coming over, and it will feel like watching a movie from a screen built into the seat of an airplane. Go big or go home and rent (call your public library) or buy a projector to screen your movie! If you have a white or beige wall in your backyard you won’t even need a screen to project on! Make sure you have all the pieces in place (speakers???) before the night of so that everything goes smoothly.

  • Comfort is tantamount!

Lay out as many cushions (or yoga mats), pillows, and blankets as possible so that your friends feel at home. Make sure there are enough lawn chairs as a “back row” so that nobody goes home with a kink in their neck!

  • Light it up

Set the mood…Seriously though, hang up some string lights so that nobody gets stepped on during someone’s bathroom run (at the best part, of course)!

  • Call a vote

How many times has your bud asked you to go to the movies and then offered up literally THE WORST movie in theaters? Yeah…don’t be that guy! In an effort to get guests to R.S.V.P. (for once), make their “yes” be a vote for the movie of choice!

10 Unbelievably Delicious Wine and Ice Cream Pairings

Pinot Noir and Sea Salt Caramel wine and ice cream pairing

Are you ready to be Enlightened? That’s right, we’ve paired up with our friends at Enlightened Ice Cream to bring you ten unbelievably delicious wine and ice cream pairings. If you’re looking to treat yourself, go ahead and go the whole nine pints (well, ten pints), because these pairings are flippin’ out-of-this-world!

Delicious Wine and Ice Cream Pairings

Wine and ice cream pairing of Sangria and Chocolate Peanut Butter

  1. Chocolate Peanut Butter and fizzy Sangria or Riesling

Ok, so might’ve gone ahead and thrown a party over this pairing. The peanut butter just MELTS in your mouth. The chocolate and peanut butter are a rich pair, so you better believe that we paired it with a rich counterpart…fizzy Sangria! Deliciously sweet and refreshing, this wine helps to wash down the peanut butter while simultaneously amplifying the complexity of the chocolate. PS – Riesling is awesome too because of its balance and rich fruit flavors (ever had chocolate dipped dried apricots or peanut butter and apple slices?). You’re welcome.

  1. Cold Brew and Cabernet Sauvignon or fizzy Chill Red

Not to sound snobby, but have you ever tasted a little bit of fruit in your cold brew before? If your answer was “Uhm, YES” then sit down with this delicious Cold Brew ice cream and a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. A bold, fruity wine and an energizing frozen treat…this pairing will lit-er-all-y blow your mind. Equally as fantastic, fizzy Chill Red and Cold Brew are the alcoholic and ice cream counterpart to toast with jam and a big cup of joe on Sunday mornings.

  1. Movie Night and Chardonnay or fizzy White Sangria

Because let’s be real, there is no way you’ll ever find the perfect microwave time for making popcorn. Sorry, but you will always burn or undercook it, that’s just fact. Thankfully, this ice cream is like a fresh from the theaters, except it’s doused in caramel and chocolate…MOUTH. WATERING. What goes better with buttery popcorn than a buttery Chardonnay? If you haven’t tried it then try it, and then try it again. If you order soda at the theaters, then pop open a can of fizzy White Sangria. This sweet beverage is the refreshing sip between spoonfuls that you never knew you needed.

Fizzy Crisp White and Cookies and Cream wine and ice cream pairing

  1. Cookies and Cream and fizzy Crisp White or Riesling

Ok, so you know how chocolate sandwich cookies and milk are made for each other? Well, fizzy Crisp White is the long-lost sibling that just found its fam. Rich vanilla ice cream with cookie chunks washed down by a semi-sweet bubbly treat is a pairing that’s just too extra (extra delicious!). While fizzy Crisp White is a marvelous pair, Riesling is the bubble-less version that warrants a five-star review, too.

  1. Brownies and Cookie Dough and Merlot or fizzy Sangria

They made a brookie (brownie cookie) in ice cream form! We literally can’t even. Rich, choclate-y brownie bites go down perfectly when they’re followed by a sip of full-flavored, velvety Merlot. This red is also a marvelous companion when you’re munching cookie dough while you’re binge-watching TV (no judgement, that’s the #PlayMoreAdultLess lifestyle). Put brownies, cookies, and ice cream in one place and nothing matches it better than a rich, juicy Merlot. Want to keep it a little lighter? Good, because fizzy Sangria did NOT want to be left out of the mix. The refreshing, fruity deliciousness of our fizzy Sangria goes together with this ice cream like peanut butter and jelly, or donuts and sprinkles, or cookies and milk.

Pinot Noir and Sea Salt Caramel wine and ice cream pairing

  1. Sea Salt Caramel and Pinot Noir or fizzy Chill Red

Since caramel is so rich, Pinot Noir is the perfect complement. It neither overpowers nor detracts from the delicious caramel flavors…It is honestly the perfect sidekick to this delightful ice cream flavor. If you want a wine as fizztastic as this frozen treat, your go to will be the one and only, fizzy Chill red! It’s kind of like the distant – totally cool – relative of caramel covered apples.

  1. Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip and fizzy Crisp White or Chardonnay

Peanut butter is one of those things that totally coats your mouth, but, like, in a good way. That nutty deliciousness (similar to caramel) deserves to overtake your mouth, and the best wine to wash it down is a semi-dry, crisp white with a little bit of fizz…Hmmm, idk about you guys, but sounds EXACTLY like fizzy Crisp White! Ok, so maybe fizzy (for some weird reason) isn’t what you’re looking for? Good thing peanut BUTTER goes well with BUTTERY Chardonnay. #Butter #Delicious #Enlightened

  1. Mint Chocolate Chip and fizzy Crisp White or Cabernet Sauvignon

You know how mint cools your mouth kind of like a snow storm just rolled through? Well, mint and fizzy Crisp White create the most refreshing snow storm you could ever imagine. The crisp white perfectly accentuates the cool mint flavors, which creates a cyclical pattern of spoon and sip that results in an empty pint and an empty can…WHOOPS. Sorry, not sorry. On the opposite end of the spectrum (that trust us, still totally kicks butt), Cabernet Sauvignon is a tannic red wine that pairs marvelously with the rich, semi-sweet chocolate chips.

  1. Snickerdoodle and fizzy Rosé or Pink Moscato

A cookie in ice cream form…because when it’s 100 degrees out, who the flip wants to turn on an oven? In that heat, nothing feels better than cinnamon sugar deliciousness that cools you off and gets washed down by a delicate, slightly-sweet beverage full of fizz. Since snickerdoodles are generally pretty sugary, a less sweet, bubbly beverage like fizzy Rosé helps to soften the taste. If you have a sweet tooth (or, in our case, sweet mouth) and want to amplify the dessert, then Pink Moscato is the sweet counterpart to Snickerdoodle ice cream. This pairing is fan-flippin-tastic and we just cannot get over it.

  1. Red Velvet and Pinot Noir or fizzy Chill Red

Subtle chocolate from the cake and a little tang from the cream cheese frosting, this frozen treat is best paired with Pinot Noir, a light red wine with cherry and berry flavors that emphasize the chocolate notes and complement the tang of the frosting. fizzy Chill Red is the bubbly version of Pinot Noir, bursting with cherry and berry flavors that rock our world with a spoonful of Red Velvet.

You’ve just been enlightened. Now go out and flippin’ try these phenomenal wine and ice cream pairings! Share your thoughts with us by using #PlayMoreAdultLess, #EatEnlightened, @flipflopwines, and @eatenlightened.

Woman at an adult pool party with flipflop wine cans

It’s flippin’ pool party season! FINALLY. What better way to #PlayMoreAdultLess than by throwing the ultimate adult pool party with floaties, fizzies, friends, and fun?! We’ve got you covered for party time with all the essentials, plus a few ideas on how you can add a theme to make it a bit more unique!

Adult Pool Party Essentials

  1. Fizzy flipflop Cans

It’s not an adult pool party unless you bust out our fan-flippin’-tastic fizzy flipflop cans! With so many options, you’re sure to find the perfect drink for each of your guests.

  1. Fully Stocked Bar Cart

The most flippin’ memorable adult pool parties are the ones where there is a fully stocked bar cart for everyone to enjoy! We have a variety of simple and delicious cocktail recipes that your guests are sure to love, and if you’re looking for inspiration, we have an entire Pinterest board devoted to bar carts! Our favorite cocktails to serve during the heat of summer are fizzy delicious Unicorn Floats and Flippin’ Snow Cones.

  1. Pool Floaties

Time to play more, adult less by decorating your pool with the world’s coolest floaties! If you plan to serve Unicorn Floats as a signature cocktail, you better believe that unicorn floaties are where it’s at! Pineapples, unicorns, donuts, and more…scour the internet for the best shaped floaties to match your theme.

  1. Squirt Guns & Bubbles

Bring the fun to the pool with squirt guns and fierce as flip’ water gun wars! Just make sure that you don’t get shot at when you least expect it! And, of course, bubbles! Bubbles! Bubbles! There’s something nostalgic about blowing bubbles in the backyard…Make sure to have these stocked and ready for your guests.

  1. Sand Castle Pails

But wait, there’s no sand at a pool? No, there’s not, but there are tons of delicious snacks that need to be served in something, and sand castle pails with little plastic shovels are a preeeettyy cool option.

  1. Water Basketball and Net

When it’s too hot to play basketball, bring the game to the pool! Setup a mini net on the side of the pool and let the games begin. Sadly, you’re going to have to permit some traveling since it’s pretty hard to dribble in a pool (just saying).

Friends lunging toward flipflop wine

  1. Board and Card Games

Unfortunately, the pool just isn’t for everyone, so make sure that you have other entertaining things to do. Offering a variety of board and card games in a shady area of the pool deck is a great way to keep people entertained (just make sure there aren’t any water guns around! *wink wink*).

  1. Sunscreen and Tanning Oil

You def need to offer sunscreen, because the last thing you need is a post-pool-party friend turned red monster angrily messaging you about how you’ve ruined them. Ok, that was a little overdramatic, but make sure that they can protect themselves like you’d protect a puppy (or kitty…we all have our preferences). Leaving out tanning oil would definitely bring your sunbather attendees some happiness, but, remember that you can’t do one or the other here – It’s sunscreen and tanning oil or sunscreen only!

  1. Goggles & Swim Caps

Continuing off of the floatie ideas from earlier, have you looked at the variety of fun goggles and swim caps available on the Internet?! Crabs, unicorns, sharks, whatever theme you’re looking for, it’s there!

  1. Towels

Raise your hand if you’ve ever arrived at the beach only to realize that you forgot your towel. Yes? Well plan for 100% of your invitees doing that exact same thing. There are some seriously awesome pool/beach towels out there…Some even in game format (kid you not)! Make sure you at least give your guests something to dry off with, otherwise you’re going to be dealing with a super soggy chip bowl.

Pool Party Themes for Adults

  • Plenty of Fish in the Sea Pool*

Are you single and ready to mingle? Throw a plenty of fish in the pool themed party and invite all of your single friends and your BEST wing women and wing men, but here’s the catch (hah), ask them to invite one or two of their single friends. Make sure to have conversation starter games so that everyone can get to know each other. Snack idea: serve a bowl of fish-shaped gummies and fish-shaped cheese crackers.

  • Time Period Pool Party

Why are high waisted bikinis not in style?! They should always be in. Throw a 70’s themed party and give your lady friends an excuse to bust out their cutest swimwear (or swim in their bell bottoms)! Ok, it doesn’t have to be the 70’s, but just make sure it’s something people can groove (again, HAH) with. Snack idea: crackers and cheese in a can (or something popular during that time period…We’re still stuck on this 70’s idea).

  • An Epic Luau

Would it be a pool party without tiki torches and pineapples? No, it wouldn’t be. Throw on some classic beach tunes and grill ALL THE PORK, because this party will go down in history! Snack idea: pineapples and sorbet.

Wine with Tacos, Plus a Sangria Margarita Recipe

tacos

The warmer weather and sunshine have us thinking about a certain kind of flippin’ fantastic pairing…The kind stuffed with seasoned meats and veggies, rice, beans, cheese, salsa, and a whole bunch of guacamole. Yes, we’re talking about the pour-fect pairing of wine with tacos. Ok, maybe not one particular pairing, but an entire Internet page worth of pairings (plus a Fizzy Sangria Margarita recipe that covers your bases for any kind of taco…YUM!). Without further ado, let’s start taco-ing!

A Sangria Margarita recipe for any kind of taco

What type of wine goes with tacos?

This question is a difficult one to answer since each taco is unique, but overall, there are three rules which you should generally abide by when pairing wine with tacos: 1) keep it bubbly 2) keep the alcohol content low 3) stick with fruity wines.

  • Try to Keep it Bubbly (in our case, Fizzy).

Sparkling wines help to tame the spicy flavors of the food while refreshing the palate. Invigorate your tacos with a bit of fizz to add to the deliciousness.

  • Keep the Alcohol Content Low.

While two flavors vying for your attention can sometimes be thrilling, in this case, it is not. Let the wine complement the taco, not fight it.

  • Stick with Fruits.

Have you ever had Mexican style chili-ed fruits? Something about the spice of the chili pepper mixed with the sweetness of the fruits…well, it’s just fan-flippin’-tastic! The same can be applied to seasoned tacos and wine. The fruit amplifies the delicious taco flavors.

A tray of tacos with salsa, lettuce, and cheese

The Best Taco and Wine Pairings (Because We’re All Dreaming of Wine With Tacos)

The refreshing berry flavors and bubbles of the fizzy rosé are a juicy complement to the spicy flavors of shrimp tacos with a garlic or chili-lime glaze. If you’re looking to focus solely on the seafood and wine combination, then Pinot Grigio is up your alley. The tropical fruit flavors of the slightly dry wine are an energizing splash following the heat of a bite of shrimp taco.

If your fish tacos are on the spicier side of things, the fizzy Crisp white is the way to go. The energizing bubbles help you tame the fire while the sweet fruit flavors help to wash it down. If your taco is a bit on the heavier side (say, doused in mole sauce?), then creamy Chardonnay is the perfect accompaniment.

There’s no combination like a jammy, chilled red wine washing down spicy grilled onions and peppers…Unless it’s a deliciously semi-sweet Riesling arriving to put out the fire! But really, you can’t go wrong with either of these wines when devouring a plate of veggie tacos.

Let’s flashback to the previous recommendation to stick with fruity flavors when you’re pairing wine with tacos….What better way than with a fizzy, delicious Sangria? Did we mention that this pairing hits on all three pairing rules? Flip yes it does! Not only does fizzy Sangria hit the ball out of the park, but so do the bold berry flavors of Merlot. The juiciness of Carne Asada tacos and the fruit flavors of flipflop Merlot are a taste bud tantalizing pair.

Since Sangria was a homerun with Carne Asada, you best believe that the same goes for Carnitas! Spicy shredded pork and refreshing Sangria are a pair to be reckoned with…just behind Carnitas and Cabernet. Maybe it’s the alliteration, or maybe it’s the boldness of the pair, but the spice of the Cab really hits the spot with a tasty Carnitas taco.

What Snacks Go With Wine? 10 Snack Pairing Favorites

the fizz

Man it must be three o’clock or something because my snack-need-o-meter is at its bursting point. Please hold while I go grab a piece of candy from down the hall…Ok, sweet (literally), let’s dive right in. The burning question on everyone’s mind and the reason we are all gathered here, what snacks go with wine?! It’s flippin’ time somebody answered this question and didn’t list off the generic cheese and crackers *yawn*. That’s so boring and adult. Let’s break it down by our fizzy-favorite wine pairing snacks from animal crackers to the lazy, but brilliant, leftover pizza.

What snacks go with wine

Wine Pairing Snacks – What Snacks Go With Wine?

    • Animal Crackers and Riesling

Classic and brilliant. Someone made the conscious decision to call these tiny delicious cookies…Crackers. It sure makes me feel better when I scarf down the whole bag! These bites of tasty call for a nice glass of Riesling and a moment to chillax. Slightly sweet with mild acidity, this wine brings out the sweet cookie deliciousness of animal crackers.

    • Popcorn and Chardonnay

The ultimate wine pairing snack, popcorn and Chardonnay go together like bread and butter. No joke! The buttery-ness of popcorn totally accentuates the buttery, oak-y flavors of the Chardonnay. If you’re a fan of butter, these two are 100% for you.

    • Toaster Pastries and Fizzy Rosé

Toaster pastries are absolutely not a “breakfast only” food. If you haven’t tried it already, toaster pastries are a down right awesome afternoon snack, evening snack, or “I’m flippin’ hangry” snack. Take your snacking to the next level by pairing these babies with a can of flipflop Fizzy Rosé. The faux-fruit filling will pair splendidly with the hints of berry in this fizzy can.

    • Pistachios and Pinot Noir

Sorry if they’re still in their shells, but if they’re not and you can consume them by the handful, consider pouring yourself a glass of Pinot Noir to wash it down! The subtleties of the Pinot Noir complement the nutty deliciousness of pistachios en masse (aka handful after handful).

    • Corn Chips and Cabernet Sauvignon

The sharper the powdery flavor of these corn chips, the better! Cool ranch, sour cream and onion, fiery nachos…All these bold flavors make the boldness of our Cabernet Sauvignon pop. If you want your snack to really wake you up, corn chips and Cabernet are the wayyyy to go. Flippin’ phenomenal, no joke.

    • Mini Cupcakes and Moscato

Awww, mini cupcakes, how sweet! If you’re snacking on these bite sized morsels, 1) I’m jealous 2) consider opening a bottle of Moscato and pouring yourself a glass. The sweetness of the Moscato pairs well with the sugary cupcake bite you’re enjoying (or fantasizing about enjoying). Did I mention that excessive sprinkles makes this pairing EVEN BETTER?

    • Fruit Snacks and Fizzy Sangria

Bursting with delicious fruit flavors and notorious for disappearing as soon as you open them (Idk about all of you, but it takes me about four fruit snack packets to feel at all satiated), fruit snacks pair perfectly with our Fizzy Sangria. Sangria is known for its variety of flavors, and you best believe it washes down your handfuls of blackberry, raspberry, cherry, pineapple, orange, apple, grape, lemon, ETC. fruit snacks.

    • PB&J Sandwich and Fizzy Crisp White

For those of you who put effort into snack time – I commend you – a PB&J doesn’t have to be left alone, especially when its flavors go AWESOME with our Fizzy Crisp White. The sweetness of this wine goes well with the fruity/sugary-ness of the jelly, while the crispness helps to put a spotlight on that delicious peanut butter. What could be better than this pairing? A PB&J flipflop flavor! Jklolz, April Fools!

      Introducing flipflop fizzy PB&J flavor

    • Leftover Pizza and Pinot Grigio

COLD PIZZA. Literally the world’s greatest (and most unintentionally perfect) invention. Pizza and Pinot Grigio are meant for each other. This semi-dry and slightly fruity wine pairs well with all Italian flavors, especially the cheesy delicious kind. Seriously, a flippin’ awesome combo.

    • Yogurt with Granola and Pink Moscato

I kid you not, this pairing makes snack time, the BEST time. The sweet flavors of Pink Moscato pair well with creamy fruit-flavored yogurt topped with tasty granola. Sweet, sweet, perfection.

So if you’re still wondering what snacks go with wine or you have a snack and wine pairing that is so flippin’ good that the world needs to hear about it, we want to hear from you! Share it on FB or IG and tag us, @flipflopwines, because we want to know your thoughts on what snacks go with wine. Cheers from flipflop!
